Sometimes, to create a certain hairstyle, you have to first straighten your hair. This is particularly important if you have naturally tight curls or even waves. And if you have decided to wear long soft curls, then straightening becomes an absolute necessity.

It is one of these curly hairstyles that are time-consuming but once you are done, all effort is worth it. To get the exact look you are craving for, here are the steps that you must follow:

Step 1: Start by washing your hair and then blow dry them
The first step to perfect hairstyling is to make sure you start with a clean head. Divide your hair into 4 different sections and wash each section one by one. This washing technique prevents your hair from getting tangled.

After this, you need to dry your hair. Since you would be short of time, air drying may not be an option.  Blow drying is the best solution. Use a round brush to blow dry your hair. People with tight curls often need blow drying before straightening otherwise, the results are not so good.

Once you are done with blow drying, your hair is still going to have some frizz. Don’t worry, the straightening iron will get rid of what’s left.

Step 2: Start curling your hair
Once you your hair is straight, it is time to start curling them. But before that, it is necessary to use styling products such as a gel or hairspray because that’s the only way the style you want to adopt is going to stay. It is necessary for all curly hairstyles.

You can go for the traditional way and use Velcro rollers. For this, divide your hair into sections and heat them with a curling iron. Then roll up your hair into the Velcro roller. Smaller rollers mean tight curls and bigger rollers mean lose curls. Once the rollers are in place, apply hairspray to allow them to sit and leave them for at least 30 minutes.

The second way is to use hot rollers. This method of application is similar to Velcro rollers. The only difference is that you don’t have to heat your hair. Instead, you will have to heat the rollers. The results as faster as compared to Velcro rollers. You just have to leave them in your hair for 10 minutes and you will be done.

Other than this, you can also use a curling iron to add curls. This requires wrapping your hair around the barrel for a few seconds.

Step 3: Time to set your curls
It does not matter how you curl your hair and make one of those curly hairstyles you want, it is recommended not to brush the curls while styling them otherwise it will create frizz. In fact, don’t even comb your hair, just tip your head upside down and run fingers through your hair to add a little volume.

You can always use a hairspray to keep the curls in place. To add more volume, use a comb to rat your crown. Do not comb through your curls.
